Process
After subscribing, you will be given instant access to our customer portal.
Simply complete the insight request setting out your objectives and we'll get started.
We moderate most of our sessions using Zoom, as this is the most flexible tool for participants to set up.
Sessions typically last 45 minutes and the moderator will follow a discussion guide, derived from the research objectives you set out.
Sometimes for usability testing, we’ll run self moderated sessions using a tool called Lookback. It largely depends on the goals of the insight request.
Simple, don’t action them.
Ultimately our process is about getting the truth from your current and ex customers and prospects. Sometimes they’ll say things you don’t like. It’s the nature of the beast unfortunately.
Adam will make recommendations based on that insight and his experience working with successful startups and global brands. However, you are in control of your business, you know much more than Adam about your customers and your vision. You decide what happens next.
On average, most requests are completed in just two weeks. However, more complex requests can take longer.
This service is currently focussed on qualitative rather than quantitive research.
However, we’re a flexible bunch, so if it involves talking to customers and the objectives are achievable we can figure it out together.
Subscriptions
Yes, we'd love you too, but you'll have to put up with our funny British spelling.
We're billing in Pounds Sterling at the moment (But working on USD and Bitcoin options) .
Once subscribed, you're able to add as many research studies to your queue as you'd like, and they will be delivered one by one.
That's fine. You can pause your monthly subscription when finished and return when you have additional customer insight requests. There's no need to let the remainder of your subscription go to waste.
Your service starts the day you subscribe, from the moment your first invoice is paid.
We’ll book in a Kick Off call to get acquainted with you, your team and your business to understand your goals and answer any questions. This is one of the few times it makes sense to have a meeting.
We’ll also share a Loom showing how to request new studies through our customer portal rather than boring you with a live demo. It’s all very simple and this is the full part.
The first week is likely to be focussed on getting your participant recruitment in place. That can be a quick process but may also involve a few discussions with your legal team depending on your business.
We recommend kicking off a study as early as you’re comfortable so you can start getting the benefit of your subscription.
Good question! Why haven’t you done it yet?
For starters, the market average cost of a full-time lead-level UX researcher now exceeds £90,000 (and up to $150,000 in the US), plus benefits. Not only that, but you need to subscribe to the tools of the trade, manage participant data, consents and all the other logistics.
The average UK agency charges over £10,000 for a round of usability testing.
When it comes to win / loss / churn interviews, it’s likely participants will open up more to a third party when they feel they won’t be offended.
Aside from that, sometimes you’ll get to the point where you have more insight than capacity to action it.
Rather than the researcher sitting idle, you can just pause and resume your subscription as often as you need to ensure you're only paying your researcher when you have work available for them.
Customer Participants
We work with your team to source customers to participate in research. Typically customers respond to requests from people they know such as account managers. We provide Calendly links to facilitate scheduling. However, for non customers we can recommend trusted suppliers who will source participants based on a screener (for a fee). The costs vary a lot depending on who your customers are and where they are in the world.
Of course, providing you source the participants we’ll run research with anyone.
We can recommend firms who are fantastic at sourcing research participants and helping you brief them.
Paying incentives to customers can be tricky due to anti-bribery policies. However, most people expect to be compensated for their time. Whilst you can handle incentives directly, we can recommend a free platform to issue incentives including charitable donations.
We’ll help your team who hold those relationships with proven email templates and tactics to approach customers to engage in research.
All participants are “pseudonymised”. This ensures that you can continue to hold any customer insights discovered if participants invoke their right to be forgotten under GDPR. It also ensures that you can provide access to insights to anyone in your organisation who needs them, without concerns about exposing personal identifiable information.
We will process participants’ personal data for the time required to analyse the study, ensure they have received any incentive and pseudonomise their data. We will then delete anything which links their real name to the insights uncovered during our research sessions.
We recommend you add Objective (Navigate UX Ltd) to your list of data sub-processors and seek legal and compliance advice on any other steps neccesary for your company.
Pause / Cancellation
Due to the bespoke and time consuming nature of the work, there will be no refunds issued.
However you can cancel the service.
Please share your feedback if you think something isn’t working, we want to make this the best customer insight service in the world.
We understand you may not have enough customer insight studies to fill up entire month. Perhaps you only have one or two insight requests at the moment. That's where pausing your subscription comes in handy.
Billing cycles are based on 31 day period. Let's say you sign up and use the service for 21 days, and then decide to pause your subscription. This means that the billing cycle will be paused and you'll have 10 days of service remaining to be used anytime in the next 12 months.
All plans can be paused at any time for up to 12 months in the client portal.
12 month plans can be cancelled prior to their renewal date.
Monthly plans can be cancelled any time.
To cancel, simply give 30 days written notice via your client portal. The termination will take effect at the end of the 30 day period after that notice was received by Objective.
IN PROGRESS REQUESTS
When you cancel, we will complete any requests with a status of “In Progress”. You have the option to immediately halt the studies but they will remain fully chargeable.
UNUSED TIME
If you cancel we will advise you of any unused time or services. If there’s enough time, we can complete additional studies. Any unused time will not be subject to a refund.
FOLLOW UP CONVERSATION
We won’t hide the option to cancel as we hate it when companies do that too. However, after you cancel we will approach you for feedback on our service and how we can improve it in future. You don’t have to have this conversation with us, but we’d really appreciate it.
